lyrics

Guns buried, pointing down
Hateful mouths will cease making sounds

All strangers will have our father’s eyes
Bitter seeds will liter the wayside

No more wounds to, bleed or bind
No more missing loved ones to find

Our neighbor’s joy, we will desire
Keeping warm the only use for fire

Maybe this place is on the other side
Of grave doorways where the saints abide

Or in moments quick, circles small
But it’s nowhere if we don’t try at all

Exploiters of children, candy coaters of sins
Thieves of nations, rippers of mends

Few would miss, most of these
With blades and chains, we could have a kind of peace

But to cleanse the world, of all those who hurt
Would leave blood swamps, burns on the earth

It stains your skin, darkens your eyes
every reflection, would have to be exorcised.

I knew a man who dreamed harmony
Could be had in the here and now
So he invited his prison guards
To beat their swords into ploughs

The oppressors responded to this olive branch
By murdering the dreamer
Crushed flower fragrance
Now his words are chanted and cheered by the other prisoners
